Our trip to the Museum of Fine Arts
On Friday, April 4, Mr. Grande's 9th grade classes will visit the Museum of Fine Arts. This is an important part of the curriculum that will help students develop analytical skills, value collaboration, appreciate art and develop historical understanding. Each class will divide into 5 groups; each group will focus on one of the museum's art collections--African, Buddhist, Roman, European Renaissance and 20th Century European. Groups will analyze a select group of artifacts, then compare them with pieces from another collection. Students will have time to roam as well. Ultimately, each group will create a presentation based on their analyses and illustrate how art reflects the history and ideas of the cultures that produced them.
